Old, Tired Trope

Description:

I don't know what sort of bro convention was going on in Athens on Sunday July 17, but there definitely seemed to be some extra douche-bags in town. I was walking down the sidewalk in front of the City Building around noon when out of my peripheral vision, I saw three large, white dudes, all wearing polo shirts, khaki cargo shorts, immaculate running shoes, and mirrored sunglasses, walking out of the parking garage. They were clearly not from around here. They didn't register as a threat at first, but they also didn't seem like anyone I wanted to interact with, so I kept walking and didn't make eye contact. Then this:

Dude 1: “Well, well, well, look what we have here!” in a suggestive tone.

I keep walking, looking at the sidewalk in front of me.

Dude 2: “Well, I guess she didn't come here to meet us.”

Dude 3: “That's okay, she looks like a real bitch anyway.”

I swear, I am not making this up. It was like some old, tired trope out of a comic strip was replaying itself. I just don't understand how in this day in age, when everyone has the Internet at their fingertips at all times, how these dudes have not yet learned that street harassment is no longer acceptable. Athens women demand respect bros, step off or get out.
